Why Icebergs Instead Of Mountains? Despite what many say, Tai Chi is simple, but simple is not always easy. It’s about depth rather than height. That which is hidden below the surface. I teach Tai Chi through the use of keywords and memory palaces.
The keywords are simple to understand at their base level but are labels to put on doors in the student’s memory palace.
Over the ensuing years, every insight and understanding the student gets about the subject that the keyword alludes to is then placed in that room in the memory palace and with assiduous practice gradually internalised until the insights are absorbed.
This book is how I perceive Tai Chi in my own words. It outlines how I structure each section of the syllabus and teach it. I’ve written it because my understanding of the classics, ideas and principles of Tai Chi and my methods of coaching them is unique. I am neurologically diverse; my brain works differently to others and therefore I tend to have a different perspective to other teachers.
– Steve Rowe, Chief Instructor – Shi Kon Martial Arts International

This book is a masterpiece of knowledge and wisdom. I’ve been fortunate over the years, along with a number of his senior students to spend countless hours learning and trying to emulate Steve Rowe’s knowledge. Steve doesn’t like to be called a master, yet once again, he clearly demonstrates why that title is appropriate to describe him. After reading this book, read it again after a week to let more of his knowledge and energy seep in and keep reading it regularly for those little nuggets and light bulb moments that will arise.
