About the Publication
Sandy Holt was never a natural fighter. Small for his age, relentlessly bullied and far from academically gifted, he left school with few qualifications and no obvious path to success. Yet the boy from Bolton who seemed destined for an ordinary life went on to become a British and European Muay Thai champion, a respected coach, an international fight commentator and one of the sportâs most recognisable personalities.
In BOSH! â My Life, My Art, My Sport, Holt recounts five decades of extraordinary experiences, from his first encounters with martial arts and his formative years under Master Sken to championship fights, building Bolton Thai Boxing Club and travelling the world behind the commentatorâs microphone.
Candid, funny and unmistakably outspoken, this richly illustrated autobiography is about far more than fighting. It is a celebration of discipline, resilience, loyalty and the determination to make the most of whatever life throws your way.
Now in his sixties and still challenging world records, Sandy Holt proves that an extraordinary life does not require extraordinary beginnings.
No shortcuts. No excuses. Just life, lived to the full. BOSH!
The values and principles that have worked so well for me are just as valid now as they were when I was still in short trousers. There is no sell-by date. I believe these old-school tools are just what society needs today.

About the Author
Sandy Holt is a British Muay Thai pioneer, former British and European champion, international fight commentator and founder of Bolton Thai Boxing Club, established in 1983. Born and raised in Bolton, England, he began practising martial arts in 1974 before discovering Muay Thai under the legendary Master Sken in 1977.
Over five decades, Holt has helped shape British Thai boxing, training numerous champions and bringing the sport to international audiences through television commentary, demonstrations and promotional events. His contributions extend beyond competition to community initiatives addressing bullying and drug abuse.
Instantly recognisable for his colourful Mohican, eccentric humour and trademark âSandyismsâ, Holt combines an infectious enthusiasm for life with a deep commitment to traditional values, discipline and personal development. Still remarkably active in his sixties, he continues to challenge himself physically and inspire others through the martial art that transformed his life.
